How to use bakhoor

I was given a bakhoor kit as a present from a Hajji. It came with a fancy burner, a box of charcoal, and wood shavings. Today I decided to open up the kit and use it, except I did not know what to do. I had to do an online search till I finally found this site on Yahoo http://www.bakhoor.info/.

Al-Amira Hijab

I thought I would step away from the gemstones for a little bit, and talk about the popular amira hijab. You will sometimes see it as al-amira, amira, ameera, or amirah. What is the amira hijab? It is a simple slip-on style hijab, that does not use pins to secure it on your head. It is usually made with a blend of polyester/cotton and spandex. It can also be found in lycra or silk. There are different versions of the amira like the Kuwaiti Mona Hijab. Al-amira can be found in plain, solid colors, or a mix of colors and patterns for a more dressy look. It can be short (draping over the shoulders) or long (covering the shoulders and chest), the length also depends on the person wearing it. The amira is neat and comfortable. It can be worn on its own or under a light square hijab or shayla hijab to hide the hair and neck (working as a full underscarf). A short amira can also be mixed and matched with a large amira for a layered look. Amiras can be found as a one-piece with the undercap stitched to the actual scarf, hijab, or khimar; or as a two-piece with a matching undercap and then the hijab, scarf, or hijab. You are sure to find comfort and ease of wear in the amira for women and girls.

ISLAMIC BASED GEMSTONES AND THEIR SIGNIFICANCE-CARNELIAN

We provide authentic aqeeq rings from Nayshabur, Yemen, and Najaf.

Carnelian (Aqeeq)/Chalcedony

• Takes away poverty and resolves differences in one’s heart.
• Brings safety while traveling
• For protection against enemies and all types of misfortunes
• Is good for eyesight
• Creates joy in the heart by eliminating sadness and anger

Its Composition

Carnelian is a variety of chalcedony. It is a type of quartz. It appears in a vibrant range of fire-orange reds to brown-reds and has a dull, waxy luster. The reddish tints in the translucent stone are due to one of its ingredients: iron oxide.

How to Take Care of Your Carnelian

When this gem stone is placed in the sun, its color will change for example; brown tints often change to red. Thus, we recommend storing your carnelian away from sunlight, occasionally polishing gently with a soft cloth.

ISLAMIC BASED GEMSTONES AND THEIR SIGNIFICANCE-TURQUIOSE

PART ONE
We provide authentic aqeeq rings from Nayshabur, Yemen, and Najaf.

Turquoise

Gems and their religious significance: Compiled by (Marhum) Al Haj Hussein Abdallah Jaffer

• Feroza gives strength to the eyes, expands the breast and strengthens the heart.
• Whenever a Momin goes for some work with a Feroza ring on his finger, his work is done.
• Turquoise (Feroza) for obtaining Divine help and victory
• It is said that Firoza helps to create joy in the heart, helps improving eyesight, brain and the heart
• The best quality of Firoza are found in Nayshabur (outside Mesh'had), Iran but they are also available in Australia, Afghanistan, America, Egypt, Germany, Palestine, Nepal and Tibet.
• The Prophet stated that Allah finds it difficult not to listen to the prayers of those who have Aqeeq and Firoza rings on their fingers, and feels hurt to negate their prayers.

Its Composition

Turquoise comes in colors from blue to green to yellow, is filled with wonderful patterns of brown and black matrix that are composed mainly of copper deposits. Turquoise has a waxy luster. It is typically blue-green with brown/black veins running through it. Some turquoise is dyed to give it an evenly vivid color. Most turquoise is stabilized to improve overall strength and polish.

It is mined across the globe, and each location yields specific stone colors and characteristics ranging from the bright sky blue (without veins) Sleeping Beauty turquoise from Arizona to the rough, organic yellow colors and heavy matrix mined from Africa.

How to Take Care of Your Turquoise (Feroza)

Turquoise is inherently fragile and sensitive to solvents; perfume and other cosmetics may alter the color of turquoise gems, skin oils, and most commercial jewelry cleaning fluids. Prolonged exposure to direct sunlight may also discolor or dehydrate turquoise. Care should therefore be taken when wearing such jewels. Cosmetics, including sunscreen and hair spray, should be applied before putting on turquoise jewelry. After use, turquoise should be gently cleaned with a soft cloth to avoid a buildup of residue, and should be stored in its own container to avoid scratching by harder gems.
