It is a simple slip-on style hijab, that does not use pins to secure it on your head. It is usually made with a blend of polyester/cotton and spandex. It can also be found in lycra or silk. It can be short (draping over the shoulders) or long (covering the shoulders and chest), the length also depends on the person wearing it. The amira is neat and comfortable. It can be worn on its own or under a light square hijab or shayla hijab to hide the hair and neck (working as a full underscarf). A short amira can also be mixed and matched with a large amira for a layered look.
