Al-Amira Hijab

I thought I would step away from the gemstones for a little bit, and talk about the popular amira hijab. You will sometimes see it as al-amira, amira, ameera, or amirah. What is the amira hijab? It is a simple slip-on style hijab, that does not use pins to secure it on your head. It is usually made with a blend of polyester/cotton and spandex. It can also be found in lycra or silk. There are different versions of the amira like the Kuwaiti Mona Hijab. Al-amira can be found in plain, solid colors, or a mix of colors and patterns for a more dressy look. It can be short (draping over the shoulders) or long (covering the shoulders and chest), the length also depends on the person wearing it. The amira is neat and comfortable. It can be worn on its own or under a light square hijab or shayla hijab to hide the hair and neck (working as a full underscarf). A short amira can also be mixed and matched with a large amira for a layered look. Amiras can be found as a one-piece with the undercap stitched to the actual scarf, hijab, or khimar; or as a two-piece with a matching undercap and then the hijab, scarf, or hijab. You are sure to find comfort and ease of wear in the amira for women and girls.
